Baby Classes:

Baby Ballerina

This is a mommy & me class. Where the Mom/Parent will benefit as well as the dancer. The Baby Ballerina class is only 8 weeks long to introduce tiny dancers to movement and creativity. Each week the dancers will sing songs, learn basic dance movements such as marching, clapping, etc, dancers will also learn counting and rhythm using a variety of props including shakers, scarves, and butterfly wings. Each week the instructor will lead a group parent discussion, giving the Mommies an opportunity to talk and share what they have learned and discovered while raising a little one. The Baby Ballerina class if for ages 12-18 months.

Tiny Tutus

This class is a mommy and me class. Your little one will explore movements, songs, and dance with you there to guide them along the way. Directional concepts, body awareness and spatial relations are explored to a variety of songs and nursery rhymes. This is a great class for little ones, ages 18 months to 24 months.

Two Year Old Classes:

2 Much Fun

This is an all boys class for dancers ages 2-4 years old. In this class little boys will learn basic dance in a variety of styles including acro, jazz, ballet, & hip hop. Props will be used to engage the dancers, including shakers, hats, scarves, etc.

Ballet & Tap

This class is for ages 2.5 to 6 year olds containing ballet, tap, and creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment.  This class uses a variety of props (shakers, scarves, wands, pom poms, etc) to develop your child’s creativity. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology. For examples, we work on posture, patterning, counting and rhythm. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies.

Broadway Babies

An upbeat Jazz & Tap class for 2.5 to 3 year olds. This is the perfect class for little ones who love to perform. A variety of Broadway songs will be used in this class, including kid classics like The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, and Peter Pan. Props will be used in this class including top hats and canes.

Tiny Tumblers

This is a class for children ages 2 to 5 year olds, where they will learn the beginning basics of tumbling and gymnastics. They will explore strength training and flexibility in a fun and supportive way. This class is designed to enhance muscle control, patience, and flexibility all while having fun using the mats and their imaginations!

Twinkle Toe Two’s

A thirty minute introductory dance class containing ballet and creative movement. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance. The use of props such as Twinkle bears and hula hoops, enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun!

THREE YEAR OLD CLASSES:

2 Much Fun

This is an all boys class for dancers ages 2-4 years old. In this class little boys will learn basic dance in a variety of styles including acro, jazz, ballet, & hip hop. Props will be used to engage the dancers, including shakers, hats, scarves, etc.

Applause

This 3 to 5 year old class is by invitation and recommended for children who enjoy performing for others. This troupe will be asked to perform throughout the year and will be in 2 competitions. We will concentrate on character dancing and jazz. A technique class is also required for this class.

This class is for the dancer that enjoys numerous dance styles. The class will focus on ballet, contemporary, jazz and basic acro. Some props may be used, including scarves, ribbons, shakers, etc.

Lil Hip Hop

This class is for boys and girls who like to dance and groove. This class is taught by taking 3 to 6 year olds natural activities, environment, and movements and transforming them into the art of dance.

Pre-Ballet

This 3 to 6 year old class is a structured class and a great introduction to ballet. Proper body alignment and arm/foot placement is developed. Class includes a warm up at the barre, floor work and across the floor movements. Props are also incorporated into this class.

Tiny Tumblers

This is a class for children ages 2 and 3 year olds, where they will learn the beginning basics of tumbling and gymnastics. They will explore strength training and flexibility in a fun and supportive way. This class is designed to enhance muscle control, patience, and flexibility all while having fun using the mats and their imaginations!

Twirling Tutus

This class is for 3 and 4 year olds, and focuses on basic ballet skills. The purpose of this class is to introduce young dancers to dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Counting is used and dancers will learn basic dance steps and terminology. For example. All dancers will know what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. Props are used in this class including butterfly wings, scarves, princess wands, etc. This class is perfect for the little girl who loves to twirl in her tutu.

FOUR TO SIX YEAR OLD CLASSES:

Acro & Tumbling

This is a class for children ages 4 years and older, where they will learn the beginning basics of tumbling and gymnastics. They will explore strength training and flexibility in a fun and supportive way. This class is designed to enhance muscle control, patience, and flexibility all while having fun using the mats and their imaginations!

FIVE TO NINE YEAR OLD CLASSES:

Acro & Tumbling

In this class students will learn the foundations to acro technique. With a teacher guidance they will learn flexibility, strength, and discipline. They will learn acro skills such as cart wheels, back bends, and hand stands.

Ballet I

This is a class for ages 5 to 9 year olds. Each class will begin with a barre to fine tune body placement and alignment. The techniques of ballet are furthered through center combinations and across the floor exercises. The class is perfect for children who have been dancing for a few years or for those who have a newly developed interest in ballet.

Ballet & Tap

Ballet, jazz, contemporary and theatre skills are introduced in this class. Dance is not all that we teach in this class. We work on posture, patterning, counting and rhythm. We encourage our students to do their best as we build up their confidence as dancers. This is conducive to socialization and school.

Encore Competition Team

This competition team will be asked to perform at three venues a year. They will participate in three competitions and may attend one convention during the dance year. A costume will need to be purchased for performances. This class focuses on ballet and jazz. This is a great opportunity for children who love to perform!

Jazz I/Cheer

Jazz dancing is energetic and fun! This class explodes with energy using a variety of Broadway music and hip-hop tunes. A warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz technique and jazz combinations are all a part of this class. Jazz steps include: basic turns, chaines, piques, pirouettes, and jazz turns. The leaps covered are grand jetes, turning jumps and tour jetes. These skills progressively increase in difficulty depending on each student’s level in the class. The instructor will use the tumble mats and teach the dancers some acro style movements that are used in Cheer.

Musical Theatre

This Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various styles used in Broadway shows. Class may include watching short clips and using props such as hats, canes, etc. Emphasis will be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expression.

Tap/Jazz

This class is for 5 to 9 year olds. In this class dancers will learn coordination and rhythm in an upbeat setting while dancing in tap shoes. Then dancers will change into jazz shoes or dance barefoot to upbeat Jazz tunes. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun! This class explodes with energy using a variety of Broadway music and hip-hop tunes. A warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz technique and jazz combinations are all a part of this class. Jazz steps include: basic turns, chaines, piques, pirouettes, and jazz turns. The leaps covered are grand jetes, turning jumps and tour jetes. These skills progressively increase in difficulty depending on each student’s level in the class.

SIX TO TEN YEAR OLD CLASSES:

Acro & Tumbling

In this class students will learn intermediate level acro technique. With a teacher’s guidance they will learn balance, control, flexibility, and discipline.

Ballet II

This class is designed for students who have learned the basic skills of ballet. The time will begin with barre, focusing on body alignment balance and strength. Center work will consist of learning body positions of intermediate ballet and include French terminology. Across the floor work will enhance the dancers sense of coordination and directional awareness.

Contemporary I

This class is for dancers ages 6 to 10 year olds who have little or no contemporary dance experience. This is a structured dance class that includes intricate floor work, technique across the floor, and self-expression through movement.

Dance Combo

This class is for the dancer that enjoys numerous dance styles. The class will focus on ballet, contemporary, jazz and basic acro.

Hip-Hop I

This class show cases a dancer’s individual style and originality. Every dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This class explodes with energy using a variety of music and show tunes. Class begins with a warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz skills, Hip Hop moves and a jazz/hip-hop combination. The class introduces intricate foot work, as well as arm motions. The students are encouraged to develop their own style of movement with freestyle dancing.

Jazz II

Jazz dancing is energetic and fun! This class explodes with energy using a variety of Broadway music and hip-hop tunes. A warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz technique and jazz combinations are all a part of this class. Jazz steps include: basic turns, chaines, piques, pirouettes, and jazz turns. The leaps covered are grand jetes, turning jumps and tour jetes. These skills progressively increase in difficulty depending on each student’s level in the class.

Intermediate Team

This is a competition performance group for ages 6-10. Although the class is by invitation, if you think your child or children may enjoy this class time then they are welcome to try the class to see if they qualify. This class focuses on skills in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip-hop and theatre dance. A great class for the child who loves to be on stage or who is not shy about performing. The focus of this class is to provide the best instruction in a variety of dance styles and build up each child’s self confidence.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a creative dance style that blends classical ballet with jazz and contemporary. This class focuses on creative self expression using emotions and individual movements from the dancers. Lyrical is a fluid dance style that often tells a story through dance. A great class for beginner dancers or those who have a few years of dance experience.

Tap I

This class is for 6 to 10 year olds. In this class dancers will learn coordination and rhythm in an upbeat setting.

EIGHT TO SIXTEEN YEAR OLD CLASSES:

Ballet II

This class is for 7 to 12 year olds who have learned the basic skills of ballet. And have completed Ballet I or the equivalent. The class will begin with barre, focusing on body alignment, balance and strength. Conditioning is emphasized at this level along with stamina. Center work will consist of learning body positions of intermediate ballet. Across the floor work will enhance the dancers sense of coordination and directional awareness.

Contemporary II

This class is for dancers who have two or more years of experience in contemporary style dance. This is a structured dance class that includes intricate floor work, technique across the floor, and self-expression through movement.

Hip-Hop II

This class is a high energy style of dance for ages 9 to 12. The class uses intricate foot work, as well as arm motions. Class begins with a warm up, progresses across the floor and then moves into the center of the floor to work on choreography and combinations. The students are encouraged to develop their own style of movement with freestyle dancing.

Junior Team

This is our competition and performance team for ages 10 and up. This is by invitation only, but If you are interested in this class you may attend a trial class. Each student in the Stars class must take ballet and have a choice between turns and transition or jazz. They will travel to three competitions during the year. They will also perform in two performances during the year. Attendance is very important to this team of dancers. Attendance is required for the last rehearsal before a competition or performance. This is a great opportunity for the dancer who loves to perform and wants to be involved in competitions.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a creative dance style that blends classical ballet with jazz and contemporary. Teen Ballet

This class is for dancers ages 13 to 18 years old who have little or no previous ballet experience. This will be a structures class that begins with a barre to fine tune body placement and alignment. The techniques of ballet are furthered through center combinations and across the floor exercises. The class is perfect for students who have been dancing for a few years or for those who have a newly developed interest in ballet.

Turns & Transitions

This class begins with a warm up, center floor transitions and across the floor, proper body placement and spotting are mastered in this class. This class is solely a technique class that will not perform in the annual Ms. Lisa’s Spring recital.

TEN TO EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD CLASSES:

Acro & Stretch

This class is for the advanced dancer. This class will focus on Acro and stretch technique. With a teacher’s guidance they will learn balance, control, discipline, and flexibility.

Ballet III

This class is designed for students who have mastered the basic skills of ballet and want to take ballet to the next level. Core strength is a key focus. Dancers who participate in this class are required to know ballet terminology, the 5 positions of classical ballet, and execute a clean single turn both en de hors and en de dans. This class is a great preparation for any dancer who desires to go en pointe.

Contemporary III

This class is for advanced dancers ages 10 to 18. This is a structured dance class that includes intricate floor work, technique across the floor, and self-expression through movement.

High School Hip Hop

This class is a high energy style of dance for ages 14 to 18. The class uses intricate foot work, as well as arm motions. Class begins with a warm up, progresses across the floor and then moves into the center of the floor to work on choreography and combinations. The students are encouraged to develop their own style of movement with freestyle dancing.

Jazz III

This class is for the advanced dancer who has an intense technique and dance foundation. This class explodes with energy using a variety of Broadway music and hip-hop tunes. A warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz technique and jazz combinations are all a part of this class. Jazz steps include:  turns, chaines, piques, pirouettes, and jazz turns. The leaps covered are grand jetes, turning jumps and tour jetes.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a creative dance style that blends classical ballet with jazz and contemporary. This class focuses on creative self expression using emotions and individual movements from the dancers. Lyrical is a fluid dance style that often tells a story through dance.

Pre Pointe/Pointe

This class is for ages 11 to 18. This class is designed for the more advanced dancer who has a desire to further their training in ballet. Class will consist of strength training during barre work and floor work. There is a high focus on body alignment, arm/foot placement, balance and coordination. This class is by placement only and students have to be approved to participate in this class.

Tap II

This class is for 10 to 18 year olds who want to take their dancing abilities to the next level. In this class students will learn rhythm and coordination.

Senior Team

This is our competition and performance team for ages 10 and up. This is by invitation only, but If you are interested in this class you may attend a trial class.
