YOUTH CLASSES

Acro (4-10 yr)

Acro Dance combines dance technique with acrobatic moves. This is a high enery class for children ages 4 years and older, where they will learn the beginning basics of tumbling and acrobatics. Dancers  will explore strength training and flexibility in a fun and supportive way. Designed to enhance muscle control, patience, and flexibility. Similiar to the floor work in gymnastics dancers will learn tumble moves such as cartwheels, handstands, and walkovers. Skills will progress based on each dancers experience and ability. Ms. Lisa’s Dance uses the “Acrobatic Arts” program in their Acro Dance classes and many of our teachers are acrobatic certified.

Friday 4:30-5:30 (Ages 4-7 yr) – Teacher: Ms. Michelle

Dress Code:

Any color leotard with footless tights or a tight fitting tshirt with tight shorts (no loose running shorts). Dancers will dance barefoot for this age. Hair pulled off of face .

Ballet I (Ages 5-9 yr)

Ballet is often referred to as the foundation for all other dance styles. Ballet helps dancers with posture, patience, control, balance, and self confidence. Each class will begin with a barre to fine tune body placement and alignment. The techniques of ballet are furthered through center combinations and across the floor exercises. The class is perfect for children who have been dancing for a few years or for those who have a newly developed interest in ballet.

Ballet II Beginner (Ages 5-9 yr)

Ballet is often referred to as the foundation for all other dance styles. Ballet helps dancers with posture, patience, control, balance, and self confidence. Each class will begin with a barre to fine tune body placement and alignment. The techniques of ballet are furthered through center combinations and across the floor exercises. The class is for dancers who have taken 1-2 years of Ballet I and know the foundations of Ballet technique. New students must take a placement class before enrolling in this class.

Ballet II Advanced (Ages 7-11 yr)

Ballet is often referred to as the foundation for all other dance styles. Ballet helps dancers with posture, patience, control, balance, and self confidence. Each class will begin with a barre to fine tune body placement and alignment. The techniques of ballet are furthered through center combinations and across the floor exercises. The class is for dancers who have taken several years of Ballet and know the foundations of Ballet technique. New students must take a placement class before enrolling in this class.

Ballet & Tap (Ages 5-9 yr)

The Ballet & Tap class combines 2 styles of dance in one class! Dancers will start the class working on patterns, counting, and rhythm in tap shoes.  Half way through the class dancers will change into their ballet shoes and spend time at the Ballet barre, learning proper body alignment, arm & foot placement, and ballet technique. Dancers will further their ballet technique with center work and across the floor combinations. This is a great class for new or experienced dancers!

Dress Code:

Combo Dance (Ages 6-10 yr)

This class is for the dancer that enjoys numerous dance styles.  Combo dance includes Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Acro. Class begins with a warm up and floor stretches. Proper body alignment, foot, and arm placement are maintained in this class. A variety of dances are choreographed and taught. We continue to focus on building each child’s confidence level as it relates to their self expression.

Dress Code:

Any color leotard with tights, or a tight fitting tshirt with tight shorts or leggings. Dancers can wear pink ballet shoes or tan jazz shoes for this class. Hair should be pulled off of face.

Competition Team

Ms. Lisa’s Dance has 8 competition  teams for the 2018-2019 season! To join Ms. Lisa’s award winning competition dancers will need to go through an audition process. Competition team members are required to take 3 classes a week and perform at 3-5 competitions in the Spring. Competition teams are designed for experienced dancers who love to perform and have a passion for dance. Contact the studio for more info.

Junior I (Ages 7-12 yr) – Meets on Thursdays 4:45-6:45

Junior II (Ages 9-16 yr) – Meets on Wednesdays 4:15-5:00

Junior III (Ages 10-18 yr) – Meets on Mondays 5:45-7:45

Senior (Ages 12-18 yr) – Meets on Mondays 6:45-7:45 & Wednesday 8:00-9:00

Senior Elite (Ages 13-18 yr) – Meets on Mondays 5:45-7:45

Contemporary I (Ages 6-10 yr)

This class is for dancers ages 6 to 10 year olds who have little or no contemporary dance experience. Contemporary is a mix between ballet & jazz style dance. This is a structured dance class that includes intricate floor work, technique across the floor, and self-expression through movement.

Contemporary II (Ages 8-16 yr)

This class is for dancers who have several years of previous contemporary dance experience. Contemporary is a mix between ballet & jazz style dance. This is a structured dance class that includes intricate floor work, technique across the floor, and self-expression through movement.

Hip Hop I (Ages 6-10 yr)

This class show cases a dancer’s individual style and originality. Every dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This class explodes with energy using a variety of music and show tunes. Class begins with a warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz skills, Hip Hop moves and a jazz/hip-hop combination. The class introduces intricate foot work, as well as arm motions. The students are encouraged to develop their own style of movement with freestyle dancing.

Dress Code:

Any comfortable clothes such as shorts & a tshirt. Dancers can wear sneakers for this class. Hair pulled off of face.

Hip Hop II (Ages 8-16 yr)

This class show cases a dancer’s individual style and originality. Every dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This class explodes with energy using a variety of music and show tunes. Class begins with a warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz skills, Hip Hop moves and a jazz/hip-hop combination. The class introduces intricate foot work, as well as arm motions. The students are encouraged to develop their own style of movement with freestyle dancing.

Jazz I/Cheer (Ages 5-9 yr)

Jazz dancing is energetic and fun! This class explodes with energy using a variety of Broadway music and hip-hop tunes. A warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz technique and jazz combinations are all a part of this class. Jazz steps include: basic turns, chaines, piques, pirouettes, and jazz turns. The leaps covered are grand jetes, turning jumps and tour jetes. These skills progressively increase in difficulty depending on each student’s level in the class. The instructor will use the tumble mats and teach the dancers some acro style movements that are used in Cheer.

Jazz II (Ages 9-16 yr)

Jazz dancing is energetic and fun! This class explodes with energy using a variety of Broadway music and hip-hop tunes. A warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz technique and jazz combinations are all a part of this class. Jazz steps include: basic turns, chaines, piques, pirouettes, and jazz turns. Lyrical (Ages 6-10 yr)

Lyrical dance is a creative dance style that blends classical ballet with jazz and contemporary. This class focuses on creative self expression using emotions and individual movements from the dancers. Lyrical is a fluid dance style that often tells a story through dance. A great class for beginner dancers or those who have a few years of dance experience.

Lyrical/Jazz (Ages 7-12 yr)

In this class dancers will learn two styles of dance, Lyrical and Jazz. Lyrical dance is a creative dance style that focuses on creative self expression using emotions and individual movements from the dancers. Jazz is an upbeat technical style of dance that explodes with energy. A great class for new dancers or those with only a few years of experience.

Class Times:

Musical Theatre (Ages 4-16 yr)

The Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various styles used in Broadway shows. Class may include watching short clips and using props such as hats, canes, etc. Emphasis will be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expression.

Silks (Ages 6-10 yr)

Silks is a form of acrobatics while hanging on fabrics & ribbons. Classes are designed to safely teach aerial tricks seen in various circus shows & performances. With the help of an acrobatic certified teacher dancers will learn flexibility, strength, muscle control, and discipline.

Wednesday 3:30-4:15 – Teacher: Ms. Michelle

Dress Code:

Any color leotard with tights or a tight fitting tshirt with tight shorts or leggings. Dancers will dance barefoot. Hair pulled off of face.

Tap I (Ages 5-9 yr)

In this class dancers will learn coordination and rhythm in an upbeat setting creating different sounds with their feet and bodies. Dancers will work on posture, patterning, and counting throughout the class. A great class for new or experienced dancers.

Tap & Jazz Boys Only (Ages 5-9 yr)

Hey guys! We have a NEW class just for you! Explore two styles of dance in one unique class setting. During the Tap portion of class dancers will learn coordination and rhythm in an upbeat setting creating different sounds with their feet and bodies. Then dancers will change into jazz shoes or dance barefoot to upbeat Jazz tunes. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun! This class explodes with energy using a variety of Broadway music and hip-hop tunes. A warm up, progressions across the floor, jazz technique and jazz combinations are all a part of this class. A fun filled class for dancers with all abilities and levels who want to explore multiple styles of dance.
